Further patisserie pitfalls - Scarlet Letters

Jul. 21st, 2008 04:37 pm Further patisserie pitfalls

Stumbling blearily into the bakery this morning, I was reminded of the perils of under-prepared patisserie shopping. What I wanted was a croissant and a pain au chocolat. What I asked for, my go-slow synapses muddling the first syllable of each word in protestation, was a fish and a chocolate skull. Neither of which is, to my knowledge, a common patisserie item.

Still, you have to laugh. Albeit wearily. And try to pass it off as a knowing contrepèterie (consonant switch)...

You made me laugh so hard I am crying slightly. Which is a good thing. It's been a long day.

They should definitely sell chocolate skulls in bakeries.

Smooth. ;) Thanks for the laugh.

Also, just wanted to say that I have been reading and enjoying the accounts of adventure in Vietnam and misadventure in Paris, despite my lack of comment lately. Keep 'em coming.
